THIS IS THE ANNOUNCEMENT AS SHARED WITH FBC JENSEN BEACH: As many of you are aware and have heard since the important news shared to the congregation on Sunday, … after much prayer, time in the Word, and wise counsel, I have felt God’s strong leading that my tenure as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Jensen Beach is complete. I have accomplished all that God would have me accomplish here. It is time for a new leader, God’s next man, to come.
It has been a privilege to serve with you and to serve you in love these past 5 years. I believe God has used this time to clarify and remind His church of the call to make disciples who make disciples and for that I am eternally grateful. I have been blessed to build many wonderful relationships with so many Godly people. It does my heart good to know that we will all stand around the throne in heaven, side by side and worship our Savior for all of eternity someday. Until then, this is goodbye.
MY FUTURE PLANS
We are all in the Lord’s service and we will go and do as He pleases. This will not change for me. For the past 20 years God has clearly and poignantly called me to serve His local church. That will unequivocally not change and end until I draw my last breath.
I have accepted a call as the Senior Pastor to FBC Woodbridge, VA in the Washington D.C. area. My family and I feel a STRONG leading from the Lord that this is where He is calling us to serve, lead, and invest a significant season of our lives in the church and surrounding community. We are anxious, nervous, but also excited for all that God has planned for our ministry and family in the days, months, and years ahead.
My goal over the next few weeks will be to continue to live every day in manner that brings honor to our Lord Jesus Christ. That is how I came to FBJB and that is most certainly how I intend to leave FBJB.
In my remaining weeks at FBJB I intend to serve with the following goals:
Serve FBJB pastors and staff to help in any way I can to set them up for successful continued ministry in transition.
Preach and teach God’s Word for the next couple Sundays.
Transition leadership responsibilities to elder board.
Begin transition steps to new ministry for my family.
MY HOPE AND PRAYER FOR FBJB FAMILY
My prayers for FBJB will continue to be as they have always been that the best days for the church are still ahead of her. God has truly gifted FBJB with Godly elders who deeply love the church, and will shepherd her during this time of transition and beyond. They will most certainly not leave the church uncared for. They love you, continually pray for you, and will be available to you for whatever it is that you may need.
I pray that the staff continue to point the church to a biblical model for Jesus’s church, the one in which He gave His life for and that the future pastor will have a passionate heart to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve you. Thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, and prayed for my family and I over these years. You have meant the world to us. There is no better word for moments like this than “bittersweet”. It is a bitter thought to know that we have to say goodbye to so many of you that we have grown to love, but also sweet to pursue the precious calling we have been given to make disciples of Jesus as he calls us somewhere else.
It can be an anxious thought sometimes to know that we are completely in the hands of a living God. We know that He is the sovereign sculptor that shapes our lives. Sometimes He gives and sometimes He takes away. But what a comfort to know that He is also a loving God who is working all things together for our good, for His glory and has promised to finish what He started in us.
Church…I love you. I will never forget you and will faithfully commit to lift you up before our Father in prayer.
